How Long Have You Worked in The Coffee Industry?
Coffee has been a part of me since childhood. As a child, I used to sit next to my grandma while she roasted Arabic coffee. She always used green coffee beans and taught me the techniques for roasting them. She taught me how to listen to the sounds and cracks, look for the right roasting color, and the traditional methods for cooling the coffee beans and grinding them in the correct way. I began exploring the business side of speciality coffee from 2004 onwards.
What Was Your First V60 Encounter?
In 2010 I was in New York, and I came across a tiny speciality coffee shop that was really crowded with a long queue out the door. I had to try it and it is there where I first saw the V60 in action. Although I ordered a milk-based cup, it became my first introduction to specialty coffee and drove me to use finer brewing methods such as the V60 on a daily basis.
Why Do You Love the V60?
I find it very elegant and graceful. It is a fine brewing method that allows me to explore specialty coffee flavors with depth and precision.
Can You Tell Us What You’re Currently Working On?
It is Championship season here in the UAE, and my team and I are focusing our efforts towards training and honing our skills (and V60 is a big part of it). I enjoy passing on knowledge and I’m working on several projects to facilitate this.
A Message for Hario
Hario to us is a benchmark for quality and precision, it has established several industry standards and we look forward to seeing more.
